Basic Mode: Use ASA to quickly find damaged components, do a quick back to back check with a known good board. Capture signatures quickly for fast A/B comparisons across several devices. Turn on the 'comet' to differentiate between inductors and capacitors.
Make basic measurements on resistors, capacitors and wound components. Use the limiter to lower the risk to sensitive IC's by capping the maximum voltage to 5V and current to 10mA.
Enable 'Auto Frequency' to automatically change the test frequency to maximum size of the 'eye'.
A useful guide on the right hand side of the screen shows typical signatures from common circuit elements along with a text description and a helpful arrow to show comet direction.
Use Auto Freeze to automatically freeze the display when you lift a probe from your test board.
Compare allows you to quickly and automatically capture a good signature and compare against subsequent suspect points.
Edit Mode lets you construct and refine complete test plans for any board. Import a PCB image, mark component locations and individual pins, assign component types, and organise the sequence of test points.
Rename, move or delete records as needed, then save the finished plan as a reusable session file that can be shared or archived with the job.
Capture Mode records the known-good (golden) signatures that form the reference for later comparisons. Place the probes on each test point and use Single Capture for precise control, or enable Auto Capture so the software detects a stable signature, stores it and advances automatically to the next uncaptured point. Voltage, resistance and frequency can be adjusted at any time, with an option to prevent accidental overwriting of existing captures.
Auto Test runs a fully automated comparison of a suspect board against the stored golden signatures. After selecting the starting point, the software steps through every record, evaluates the live V-I curve and marks each result GOOD or BAD. Progress and failures are displayed on the test tree and on the PCB image overlay, making it ideal for rapid screening or production-style diagnostics once a known-good plan is in place.
