Overview

The ASA280 is the high-channel-count model in our Analog Signature Analyser line. It shares the ASA200 / ASA240 measurement engine and adds a built-in 80×1 switching multiplexer — double the ASA240's channel count — for large boards and dense production fixtures.

Where the ASA240's 40×2 matrix multiplexes both the signal and 0 V leads independently, the ASA280 routes 80 single-ended channels against a common reference. Pair it with DIP/SO adaptors or a bed-of-nails fixture and step through every test point in software. Gate/bias generator, footpedal inputs and ASA software are the same as on the ASA200 and ASA240.

Ideal for

High channel-count fixtured and bed-of-nails power-off PCB testing against a shared common.

Key features

  • Built-in 80×1 switching matrix; 80 single-ended channels against a common reference
  • Power-off V–I signature analysis through the multiplexer or the 4 mm terminals
  • Output voltage 0.2 to 10 Vpk, 10 settings
  • Series resistance 50 Ω to 10 kΩ, 8 settings
  • Frequency 10 Hz to 1 kHz, 7 settings
  • Gate/bias generator ±10 V, 100 Ω; two footpedal inputs
  • External 12 V, 4 A PSU supplied; USB for data; ASA software included

Applications

High channel-count fixtures

Connect up to 80 board nodes to a bed-of-nails or adaptor. The software steps through channels against a shared common.

Large assemblies

Use the 80×1 matrix where node count exceeds the ASA240’s 40 channels and the reference can remain fixed.

Active-device signatures

The gate/bias generator biases SCRs, optocouplers, small relays and TRIACs during capture.

Golden-board comparison

Auto Test programs the multiplexer, captures each node and records a pass or fail against the stored reference.

One free app drives the whole range

Free for the life of the instrument — no licence, no per-seat dongle. Plot live signatures, compare a known-good board against the one under test, and export every trace.

ASA26.700 Basic Mode
Live signature view — Live V–I signature display with overlay of a stored golden-board reference.
ASA26.700 Auto Test Mode
Auto-test node walk — Auto Test walks each programmed node against the golden-board reference and records a pass or fail.
